581 Youngtown Road (Route 52 & Youngtown Road)
Lincolnville, ME 04849
This story begins back in 1810 – when this farmhouse was built. This beautiful home was once home to the Young's family poultry and dairy farm for more than seven generations. Today, Youngtown Inn (immaculately preserved and lovingly kept by owners Manuel and MaryAnn Mercier) is known for its beautiful accommodations, legendary food, and its reputation for winning the Fodor's Choice Award for eight consecutive years.
This inn is located right near the beautiful Lake Megunticook, along route 52. As soon as you drive up, a gorgeous white-clapboard farmhouse with black shutters and gold trim welcomes you, its windows glowing if it’s dinnertime. Fresh flowers are arranged inside, with the Vermont Casting wood stove going strong if it’s chilly. The pine floors are shining, the beamed ceilings are prominent, and French prints line the stenciled white walls. Sitting on the white-clothed tables, are small oil lamps.
Award winning chef, Manuel Mercier, runs the 70-seat French restaurant at Youngtown Inn. The menu draws upon Manuel's classic French training, offering authentic savory cuisine and decadent desserts. An extensive wine list of French and California wines are a big draw, too. With rustic beams and multi-paned windows, you really feel like you are taking in a Parisian meal. Only the freshest ingredients are used – and daily specials are always on the menu. If your mouth isn’t watering yet, think about these items that have been known to set off rave reviews - lobster ravioli, rack of lamb and crème brulée. Yum.
After a long meal, guests can retreat to their rooms for a good night of sleep. There are six beautifully decorated rooms – all tripled sheeted, and all with private baths. Some rooms have a cozy fireplace, queen canopy or sleigh bed and balcony. The second floor private parlor is available to guests to unwind with complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cookies – and their library collection. All guests enjoy a complimentary gourmet breakfast each morning of their stay.
There is also a cottage rental on Levenseller Pond that guests can reserve. This post and beam-style vacation home includes three bedrooms, two baths, Jacuzzi bathtub, and a fully equipped kitchen. For this rental, and all other rooms, people should visit the website for more information, rates, and reservations.
